Regional Lead Pharmacist donating hair to the Little Princess Trust

Louise Sanderson, a Regional Lead Pharmacist in our Central region has been growing her hair to make a generous donation to The Little Princess Trust. The hair will then be made into a wig for a child who has lost their hair through cancer or another illness.

Once hair is donated, it still costs The Little Princess Trust £550 to create the wig, which is why Louise is also fundraising.

Louise said ‘2020 has been a difficult year for everyone, but I can’t imagine how hard these past months must have been for children and their families already dealing with the impacts of cancer. If you can spare even £1 to help put a smile on a child’s face I would be really grateful.

The Little Princess Trust provides free real hair wigs to children and young people, up to 24 years, who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.

From receiving hair donations at their office office, through to fitting and styling a bespoke wig, it costs the charity from £550 to provide a real-hair wig free-of-charge, to the wig recipients. They currently supply over 100 wigs every month. The Little Princess Trust needs financial donations as well as hair donations, in order to fund the actual manufacturing of the wigs and wig-fitting service. Every penny raised, really does count.

When a child loses their hair to cancer or another condition, the trust are there with a free, real hair wig to help restore their confidence and identity. They promise not to stop this support until the research that they fund puts an end to childhood cancer.

The Trust relies solely on the efforts of enthusiastic community fundraisers. They receive no formal funding.
